One of the hottest topics in our nation, probably more in Ohio, but surely dominating the sports world is the DECISION LaBron made to leave Cleveland to join Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade and the Miami Heat. It was a CRUSHING BLOW, a major deflation and subtraction to the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, there were times the Cavs didn’t have James on the court and they won. Now whether or not they could do that on-going, only the season will tell you, and with the money Cleveland will not be paying LaBron, you never can tell what caliber of player can be obtained to add to the still talented roster left. But I want to point out one thing of value – that EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE should take note of…….

LaBron James, born in Akron Ohio, about a 25-30 minute drive from Cleveland - MADE THE CHOICE THAT WAS BEST FOR HIM, in his mind. He chose himself. Here’s where I tell you, because that’s the lesson that should have been learned by everybody watching – If you want happiness in YOUR LIFE, as LJ did – choose you. Now, that’s a blanket statement, but those of you who know the realm of choice and who and what you are – know what your weaknesses and strengths are, know your ups and downs, your negatives and your positives – CHOOSE YOU. Make the selections in your life that will be beneficial to you and your world. Those choices will NOT ALWAYS MAKE EVERYBODY HAPPY, but do you want to lose any chance of obtaining the joys that you deserve?
Okay now here’s my take. And let me tell you, LaBron is my favorite player. He will be my favorite player for a long time. The fact that he will play for Miami, doesn’t erase the fact he was Ohio bred and born. (or is it bread?) – That will never change. However, I think the choice for LaBron to leave Cleveland was made during game 5, against Boston. There were a lot of rumors going around about LaBron’s personal life. Without being specific, and playing the “media” game that most people play – if what was spoken about, what you can find on the Internet is true. How could he continue to play for Cleveland? It’s tough to face the person who raped you everyday without having emotions flare. And even though anyone who has crimed against you is on the other side of the world, IN YOUR HEAD that entity still exists, but you don’t need a reminder to slap you in the face, everytime you go to work.
Stick a fork in C-town is what he did. And most of us will never know the real reason. By giving up cash, and all three did that – Josh, Wade and LaBron, it is evident THAT MONEY WAS NOT THE MOTIVATING FACTOR. And if James as an addition to the Heat helps Wade, Josh, and Pat Riley get more chances for Championships, all the better. In the end, the only one who LaBron has to hold accounting to, is himself. And although his departure is like getting cut deep in your gut, then someone pouring alcohol and salt in your wound, that too will pass, as everything else does.
In closing, I will quote my dear pal out of Chicago. Why can’t the country generate all of this attention and extreme funds to help people in this nation who are out of work and need employment? With the amount of wealth, sports figures, and entertainers generate – from the MASS, the amount of wealth that the entertainment and sports world generate FROM THE GENERAL MASS, you will think there would be TRUE re-investment, and TRUE payback. TRUE. It can be done, but let me tell you on this day after the decision -
IT WON’T BE.
